As we know, yoga is great, enjoying a renaissance across the world – we know about Bikram hot yoga, Lotus Pose, pretzelling general physical and oh so much to know where to buy yoga apparel, yoga mats, yoga gear, even for our pets! However, history Yoga is rich and long and deserves a mention. So without further ado, let's start near the beginning.

Bhakti Yoga

Bhakti yoga is the yoga of devotion and singing. Previous Hatha Yoga Bhakti yoga is approx. 4,000 years making it one of the oldest forms of yoga in the world! North Americans often come to yoga as a form of exercise, while Indian culture approaches asana practice as a means of calming the mind before meditation and worship. Kirtan is the practice of singing God's name in its divine aspects, translated from Sanskrit it means "I surrender to the Lord." Traditionally, kirtan is performed in a call and response style. The leader sings kirtan a line or verse of a prayer or mantra and kirtan group meets as closely as possible. Kirtan is a community, a dialogue between the chief of appeals, group kirtan and energy of the Divine. In the system of eight members of the classical yoga, kirtan is considered pratyahara (focusing the mind inwards) and is a bridge between our inner and outer. Bhakti Yoga is the divine melody and rhythm of the human spirit, expressed in the singing and singing.

Karma Yoga

Karma Yoga is selfless service of others. This yoga calls the yogi to its actions in this world of expressions devotion and offerings to God, regardless of personal gain. If you do community work, volunteer work, or simply do something very nice for someone without any reason, you do acts of karma yoga. Dream Yoga

Dream yoga is to listen carefully what your dreams are telling you. This knowledge is used to improve your waking life by helping you to pay more attention to your situation day-dreaming or shared.

Jnana Yoga

Jnana Yoga is the study of philosophy of yoga, Jnana is the Sanskrit word for knowledge. The practice of this yoga is to practice deep meditation, study of self, the true self and the transcendental ego. The yogi is challenged to examine the real and the illusory. To do this, the yogi must use his mind to retrain the mind to separate the real from the unreal and discover and release the true self. Jnana Yoga uses meditation, introspection and contemplation techniques to attain wisdom and enlightenment.

Mantra Yoga

This is mainly the yoga of sound. The word mantra comes from the combination of man of Sanskrit words "believe" and instrumentality tra '. Mantra is the intention expressed in the form of sounds, unlike Bhakti yoga, which is exactly the yoga of song and singing for example when you chant "OM" mantra you combine yoga and bhakti yoga. Mantras have been chanted for thousands of years (some for thousands of years!) to guide the mind through meditation and to establish an intention to create states of consciousness or to seek divine help.

Raja Yoga

Raj is the Sanskrit word for king and Raja Yoga is known as the Royal Yoga because it highlights the king / queen in all of us, the inner self Noble is so seldom recognized in our daily life. Raja Yoga offers an opportunity to focus on the quality of our daily thoughts and actions, taking care to reveal goodness that the functioning of the mind often hidden or ignored. The more closely associated with the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, it is most commonly expressed in eight of classical Yoga.
