The FIFA World Cup Soccer tournament, held every four years, is the largest sporting event code in terms of viewers worldwide. It is even bigger than the Olympic Games. Tournament next year, the 19th since its inception, will be held in South Africa, making FIFA President, Sepp Blatter, a happy man as he has always wanted to bring the tournament to the continent.

The tournament begins June 9, 2010 and continues for 4 weeks, culminating in the final match to be held in Johannesburg July 11. The games will be watched by billions of viewers worldwide, which makes the event the most watched sport in the world. The worldwide interest in the tournament is huge and this makes it an excellent internet marketing opportunity.

How going to South Africa, the host country, enjoy the World Cup FIFA 2010? A lot, say some. For example, an estimated 129,000 jobs were created, contributing about $ 3 billion in gross domestic product. From this, 1 billion dollars will go to government in taxes. Furthermore, and most important internet marketing perspective, 350,000 people will travel to South Africa for the tournament, spending an additional $ 1.3 billion.

For Internet retailers, hospitality and travel / tour industry is a major concern because it will be most used by visitors.

Many visitors to South Africa will use the Internet to find places of interest and entertainment.
