Wood Practice

Gas fireplaces have grown in popularity lately, especially here in the Pacific Northwest, where it is often cool and gray. It is hard to beat ease of turning on a switch and have a flash fire.
Gas fireplaces are very popular in other climates as well. For example, in Arizona, you may want the ambience of flickering flames for a romantic evening at home, but you do not need the heat. That works fine, since gas fireplaces offer the possibility to operate with the fan on or off (the fan is what is responsible the explosion of heat in the room).
If you read this article, you probably do not decide, however, if a gas fireplace is good for you. They cost between $ 1,500 and more, and in most cases, installing one of the ways that you can not use your fireplace, not more. (Most gas fireplaces are inserts that fit into the combustion chamber old.) To help you decide, let's examine the benefits and disadvantages of each:
Pros wood fireplaces
– You get the realism of a real crackling fire.
– You can practice your fire-building skills whenever you want a little extra heat.
– They can bring the family together during a power outage.
The disadvantages of wood-burning fireplaces
– You have to carry the wood inside, often to the stairs.
– You should clean ash from the chimney regularly.
– It takes time to build a ordinary fire, and then it's a bad idea to leave home or go to bed as it burns, if you're involved in a fire during hours.
– Most of the heat from the fire because wood-burning fireplaces are not energy efficient.
Advantages of Gas Fireplaces
– You can have heat and fire at the flick of a switch.
– They are effective energy and heat a room quickly.
– You do not need to worry about chimney sweeps, creosote and fire fireplace.
Cons Gas Fireplaces
– While the flames on gas stoves are now quite realistic, you do not have the sound of crackling wood and the authentic ambiance of a fire.
– Potential buyers who have not been lit for comfort and ease of a gas fireplace provides, may prefer a traditional wood fireplace.
As you can see, there arguments on both sides. Is a gas fireplace better than a furnace wood? This is something that depends on the tastes of the user stack. It's really up to you and your preferences whether you want one over the other.
As someone with two gas fireplaces in home, I would say that many people do not realize how wonderful they are until they owned one themselves. We started with an upstairs and installed shortly after the second of our fireplace downstairs. You can not beat the convenience of getting out of bed a cold morning and slammed on the gas fireplace, so you can warm your buns while you dress. And many current models are equipped with remote controls and automatic timers, so you can set the fire to light ten or fifteen minutes before your alarm goes off, or you may have the unit off when you went to sleep. You can not have that kind of immediate satisfaction with a heater wood.
And if you are still attracted by the idea of a wood fire, there's always the backyard. Outdoor fireplaces are becoming more popular those days.
