Brilliance is the only work to describe th musical, Wicked. Growing up I remember watching the classical rendition of The Wizard of Oz, which was originally made in 1939. I am sure, that all of you remember it as an integral part of your youth. Wicked, is the story behind the Wizard of Oz, and how the Wicked with of the West, got so wicked.
As I sat attended this performance, my thoughts were continually drawn back to the opera glasses I was using for the performance. The costumes through the glasses were delightful, the singing amazing, the characters entrancing, and stage props amazing. Without opera glasses I am sure that I would have missed out on much of the performance, so to full enjoy the experience when you attend, make sure you remember to bring them.
I love how you learn who the good witch, Glinda and the Wicked Witch of the West truly are. You learn how they acted growing up. You find out how Glinda, (the good witch) really was.
You will be surprised at the twists and turns of your feelings on these two characters. In my view, Glinda the good witch was not so perfect after all. Growing up Glinda is one of those spoiled and popular young girls; where as the Wicked Witch of the West, Elphaba, has a terrible childhood. Her childhood is terrible due to her green skin color and people making fun of her. The Wicked Witch of the West has no mother growing up. Elphaba is raised only by her father. You will see the good things that Elphaba actually does. After the end of the masterpiece, you may want to purchase a t-shirt, hat, or a sweatshirt of the Wicked Witch of the West. Most places have Wicked items for sale after the musical. With the touching music you may end up purchasing a CD for your listening pleasure.
If you would like to see one of the most popular musicals in years, Wicked is the performance to see, it has won many national and international awards including a Tony! If you don’t believe me, simply find a friend or relative who has seen it, and listen to them rave. When you finally go, make sure you bring your opera glasses to make the show as wonderful as possible.
You know that Wicked is a masterpiece as this year of 2009 Wicked is on its second National United States tour. This musical is so popular box office records have occurred through and through. If you have not seen Wicked yet, you are missing a fantastic musical. I would highly recommending purchasing tickets as you will not be sorry. As mentioned above, do not forget your opera glasses.
Jeff Bridges has always loved the theater and opera, he currently helps run an opera glasses retail site where they sell opera glasses. Including Opera Glasses with handle, flashlight, chain and more!
