Will a metal halide for growing coral aquariums and lighting plants grow well?

My friend gave me a plant used for its coral to use on my houseplants and I was wondering if it would work. The K º on the lamp is 14000. I do not know if I should get a new bulb or when it is fine. I wanted my friend gave me a metal halide ballast and measured at 14,000 º k. Is it too blue for my plants? He used it for chorale and I heard that works well, but will work for plants, too?
