Track Achiever

If you're like many of my clients, you may want to make major changes in your life – for example, a new career, more time with family or healthy lifestyle – but you do not know where to begin, life is in the way or you end up feeling trapped.
So what holding you back?
Perhaps procrastination, self-sabotage and fear of the unknown. Or perhaps how to start the change, but quickly fall into a comfort zone in force. This "easy road" often leads to complacency and stagnation.
How can – You make lasting changes to enrich your life?
Here are some thoughts that I have learned through training over the years:
Slow Down – If you're stressed or running at full speed all the time, it is incredibly difficult to make real changes and sustainable in any part of your life. So your first step is to slow down and release the mental and emotional space needed. Decades of research plan for the benefit of reflection activities that calm fear, doubt and worry and allow you to be more energy and engaged in the moment. For example, try carving 10 minutes twice a day for a ritual repeated each day as meditation, yoga, prayer, writing, listening to music, walking, painting, knitting, etc. No matter what you do as it allows you to really slow down, creating space and renew your energy – all the ingredients necessary for change.
Draft a vision – Before spending time and energy what it takes to make a big change, take a step back and focus on what is really important to you. When the time feels right, write a few paragraphs on where you want to be your goals a year from now. For example, how, impacting the success of your goals and how your life you show up in the world?
Identify your strengths – In our culture, there is a lot of attention on gaps and weaknesses that can make us feel powerless. Instead, what if you own power by focusing on the strengths that are inherent to you? If you determine your core strengths and leverage them, you'll have more success in achieving your vision and most accomplished in the process. For example, if you want to enter a new career and one of your strengths is connecting with others, you will be very useful to attend networking events and conduct information interviews. Since you excel in these types of activities and they come naturally to you, the chances that you will not succeed alone, but also benefit this process.
Develop a plan – Once you know your strengths and have a clear vision, break your goal into small achievable steps for action that are large enough to give you an idea of progress still small enough to be realistic. If you are a High Achiever, you may try to take all at once, that can save you up to fail. Instead, prepare yourself for success by starting with a small action and working slowly towards your goal.
Create accountability – On average, it takes about 28 days to create a new habit. For example, if you try to create a profile healthy life by eating well and exercising more, it will take about a month for these actions become routine. Change is often a step forward and two steps back and you will inevitably face challenges and setbacks along the road. You will need support as you make major changes in your life and work on your vision. Do not do it alone. Tell your friends, colleagues or because your plans and ask them to help hold you responsible. Others will help you stay motivated, accountable and on track and when you reach your goals, you will have other with whom to celebrate.
Now that you have a rough outline of how to make personal changes, I encourage you to work through your plan and customize it in a way that serves you.
Ready, Set, Go You can do it.
