A muscle building program for a male fitness model is specifically designed to enhance certain areas of the body. This is done on purpose so that the overall appearance is visually stunning. They focus on addressing both sarcoplasmic muscle growth and myofibrillar hypertrophy in order to gain the proper muscle mass and density. The areas of the body that receive the most attention are the upper and inner chest, biceps, triceps, deltoids, and back. Why Direct Leg Work Isn’t Needed
The legs and traps are intentionally avoided in an Abercrombie and Fitch models training program. They don’t want to enhance the traps because it will deflect from the beauty of those angular, wide shoulders they need to work the camera. They are striving for a perfect V shape in their upper body. This means the legs need to be small and that rounded, thicker look that would come with working the traps and leg muscles is unwanted. A model’s worst nightmare is showing up at a photo shoot and finding their legs are too muscular for those skinny jeans. They are well developed but they don’t have a lot of excess mass. This is achieved with HIIT workouts and healthy eating rather than mass workouts.
The Model’s Abdominal Workout
Every model of Abercrombie has to have well defined abdominal muscles. They can’t have large, bulky muscles here, but a smooth, flat stomach with well defined muscle is crucial to make the model cut. Most models will do planks to strengthen and tone these muscles without bulking them up. That beautiful V you see between the lower hips and ab muscles is achieved by doing hanging leg raises. These exercises also help achieve that very thin, angular shaped waistline that you see on all Abercrombie models. Those exercises are easy to do, but what really stands in the way of most people achieving a body is their choice of food.They are extremely strict on what they eat because they know that what goes in their mouth will determine the shape and definition of their ab muscles. It doesn’t matter how many planks or hanging leg raises you perform if your diet is not on point. The wrong foods pack fat over those perfectly defined muscles and that’s not pretty!
Defining the Body Through Nutrition
What makes these male model’s body seem so unobtainable for most people is the extremely low body fat percentage that these models maintain. Most people think they are not genetically programmed to get rid of their fat layers, but this is entirely untrue. Abercrombie models have a formula that is followed to keep the fat from building in their bodies. The formula is a combination of the following: high intensity interval training (HIIT), strength training for those important upper body muscles, and conscious eating. By conscious eating we mean that they are aware of every bite they take and they take far fewer bites than most other people. The only way to get that slim V shape with well defined muscle and very low body fat percentage is to eat less and workout more. There is no way around this.
The Chubby Model: Does Abercrombie and Fitch Discriminate?
Unfortunately for men who can’t stick to the Abercrombie workout, Abercrombie and Fitch models do discriminate against the plus sized or chubby model. This isn’t because they hate fat, but because they need models who can be called to a shoot or fitting at any time and actually fit into their clothing. These models have enviable bodies but most people don’t envy the discipline they have to put on themselves to maintain those beautiful bodies.
