So you do have stretch marks. They are those linear scars in your stomach, buttocks, thighs, upper arms or breasts. Now that you know you have them, you would like to remove them. You would like to use the best stretch mark removal treatment that is available in the market today. And since a stretch mark cream is the most extensively advertised cost-effective solution there is nowadays, you will most likely choose it.

But before you grab one from the nearest store, notice that there is a color that your stretch marks are flashing. Their color tells you what stretch mark cream could best treat them. Are your stretch marks bright or dull? Are they red? Purple? Gray? Silver? Or white?

The color of your stretch marks gives you an idea about what stage of development they are already in when you first discover them. Their color tells you if they are new or old. Knowing whether they are new or old will give you an idea on how easy or how difficult it would be to treat them. Same with all health problems, stretch marks are easy to eliminate if they are new and consequently, difficult to get rid of if they are old.

Newly developed stretch marks are reddish or purplish and bright in color. These colors are manifestations of the internal damage that these stretch marks have just recently inflicted to your blood vessels. Reddish or purplish stretch marks are best treated by a stretch mark cream that can effectively penetrate deep into the inner skin where the damage has just occurred. Active ingredients that a cream for this type of stretch marks should have include Vitamin E, squalene oil, collagen, pro-Vitamin B5 and extractions from aloe vera, grape seed and cocoa butter.

If you discovered your stretch marks while they are still reddish or purplish, do not delay treating them until they become old and fade into dull colors of white, gray or silver. Getting rid of white, grayish or silvery stretch marks may take longer. What is worse is that removing them completely may take more than a stretch mark cream. However, a stretch mark cream that come in package with exfoliating ingredients like alpha hydroxy acid (AHA), glycolic acid, Retin-A and Vitamin D3 can make them fade substantially. Because dead cells in the outer surface of the skin can block the active ingredients that treat the damage in the inner skin, these exfoliating ingredients should first remove the dead cells on the surface before the cream’s active ingredients could do their work.

Let the color of your stretch marks guide you in choosing what stretch mark cream to treat them. But here’s a tip: why not choose a cream that can treat both old and new stretch marks alike?
