Standard Weight

Javelin Throw event is incredibly technical. Unlike our hammer, discus and counterparts shot put, we do not rely so much on strength and muscle as excellent coordination and rhythm! It is the combination of many things that makes the Javelin little further! Although anyone can start the javelin if they have the right information.
The objective of javelin throw:
The whole point of throwing the javelin is to see who can throw more away from the throw line, without crossing the line to launch and ensure the point of land before the tail. The point need not stick in the ground – the front portion just need to hit the ground before the back end.
Javelin Equipment:
Clearly as a spear you need a javelin thrower. You must also look into getting yourself a pair of spikes in the heel.
JAVELIN: If you are a beginner only way you should check with your athletic teams Local. Being able to use Javelin club not only saves you forking out your own but it will also allow you to start more quickly and have an idea of the event.
When choosing to use a spear, there are two major considerations:
1. The correct weight for your age group / gender. The standard weight for women is 600grammes and men is 800grammes. Darts are also generally available in 400, 500 and also 700gram weight. Some vendors have special sizes for children and aid the formation of foam (looks a bit like a foot, but rockets 3) can be used indoors!
2. International standards. The main concern here is the center of gravity. Some older models Javelin is not approved for competition. Always check the competition rules.
Javelin Spikes: These details are important to avoid slips and generate the momentum necessary to plant your feet. Without spikes in the heel, you may drag which can be very dangerous with enough momentum behind you and especially if there was no rain. Some vendors sell equipment to clip heels, as below, you can attach to normal running spikes. It is a very economical solution if you already have a pair of spikes.
How to take the Javelin:
There are three handles commonly used to throw the javelin.
1. Hold the Javelin in the palm of your hand between your index and middle fingers. Fingertips these two fingers should be against the top of the handle of rope.
2. Hold the Javelin in the palm of your hand with your index finger against the top of the grip rope.
3. Hold the Javelin in the palm of your hand with the middle finger against the top of the rope handle and your right index finger along the javelin itself.
See where one feels most comfortable for you!
For children, I suggest you first because it gives more stability to hold the javelin and also helps maintain run directly to their release.
For Adults, however, I recommend the other two. When you release a javelin during a launch there is a movement of rotation to propel the javelin in the air. This is possible with less obstruction from the fingers.
The javelin throw:
The whole issue is that this is a javelin throw, not a bowl, not a coin toss, not a rebellion. A shot!
As a result, your swing does not come from your arm or hand, but from your toes! That's right your toes through your feet your ankle, knee, hip, torso, shoulder and then your arms, hands and fingers, finally!
It is a workout whole body!
The best way to understand the jet position is to start from the bottom up:
FEET: Stand sideways to the foul line with your left foot closest to the line (for throwing his right hand, left hand throwers only cons below) and feet apart at shoulder width. The face of your body to the side while your head is turned towards the direction of launch.
ARMS: Place your left arm at your side at shoulder level almost pointing in the direction of the jet. Hold the spear in your right hand and lift your hands to your sides until either just above head height. The point of the spear must be at eye level. Your whole body is straight!
LAUNCH MOVEMENT
From this starting position, relax your right foot and step forward with your left foot, turn so that your toes are facing the direction of projection. Keep your weight on your right foot. Then, lift your right heel and started to run on your toes right – the ankle turns then your knee will follow, then around your hip. You reach a point where your hips are both facing the direction of projection, but all this time you should try to maintain Position your upper body, ie the right arm is still straight out behind you and chest sideways facing.
Now you can let your right arm came through. First, you allow your shoulders to stand and then bend your will. Inevitably, he plaice, but try to minimize this problem by allowing to come across some head height and make sure it is facing forward.
Finally, your hand into play and allow the release of the javelin to rotate your hand. What I mean is that as you throw your hand uncurls and the last part of your body to touch the spear is at the top of your index!
During this movement, your left arm remains at the top. Its purpose is to act as a block. Remember you need to stop before the throw line and your left hand is firm to prevent you from falling forward excessively.
