1) Seat height
The best way to adjust the height of your seat is set all the shoes you normally wear go biking and position your bike next to a desk or a door. Get on your bike you balance so that you and your bike are vertical, then put your foot in your heal its lowest position. For an optimal height, your leg should be fully extended in this position. That way, when you're pedaling on the balls of your feet, your leg will be able to do the most work without sacrificing your knees.
If you feel pain in the back of your knees while pedaling, or you feel you rock your hips back and forth to achieve your pedal, your seat is too high. Conversely, if you feel your legs burning too much, your site might be too low. After moving your place at an approximate position, making minor adjustments in either direction can make driving more comfortable. The only way to know is to adjust the seat on the road, so if you donÂ't adjustment quick release seat, extend the allen wrench with you for a walk and play with your size.
Interesting Note:
For skiers there, if you lower your seat an inch or two in the late fall, you can get in better shape for the coming winter. The low position will work more muscles used in skiing.
2) Handlebar Height
In addition to seat height, handlebar height is the easiest setting you can bring your bike with the biggest difference in the position body. For a typical road cycling and general bike, the handlebar height should be equal or up to three or four inches below the height of the headquarters. This isnÂ't to say it is bad to have the handlebars higher than your head, it will just put more pressure on your body. In other words, the higher your handlebars, the more behind your center of mass will be on your bike. This will result in more weight being placed on the hips and buttocks, what you really feel all the bumps on the road.
For those with a need for speed, an optimal aerodynamic position can be achieved by trying to the back as flat as possible. Lower your handlebars lower than you're used to might seem a little uncomfortable, but as you work your way up faster speeds and harder to pedal, you feel that you are comfortably seated farther forward and more aggressively. When in high gears and pedaling hard the power of your legs will actually support the upper body in the aero position.
For a more comfortable ride, which raises the handlebars could be the key. It's almost a trade-off, over the bar as comfort, but at least a "powerful" position over the handlebars, less comfort, but the more aggressive stance. It often depends on the length of a trip you want to do, or the type of bike. Make sure you have a seat comfortable if you want to be sitting upright.
