Sleeves are acceptable for rugby braces?

I tore my MCL and PCL about 4 months ago. I went through physical therapy and am doing my own rehab at my gym. I am now running well, with only slight pain when the weather is bad. I recently received a custom fitted knee brace that I want as a precaution when I ski and snowboard. I was also thinking about using it when I play rugby. The season begins in May, which gives me approximately 3 months to return to 100% (or as close as I can get). orthotist who gave me the brace said that the brace is legal for rugby, I must wear a sleeve than when I play. I was wondering if anyone any information regarding this had. I know you can not wear braces with screws, buckles, belts, etc., but those rules still apply if I have a cover that completely covers the brace have? PS I understand that if I do not feel 100% I would not play yet, but I want to know or what the legit orthotist said.

I do not think they are legal if they could cause damage, your best bet would be to ask a qualified ref, most rugby clubs have or know at least one ……… He would then be able to tell or advise on what kind of sleeve would be necessary! Good luck with and damage!
