Short leg syndrome is actually a medical condition that affects thousands of people every year. When a baby is born with one leg shorter than the other, walking and common complications may occur as he or she grows. Sometimes it is not automatically obvious that a child is facing this issue.

Treatment options for restless legs syndrome depend on the specific type of condition. There are two main forms of short legs. First, your child may have one leg shorter than the other. This can occur during growth in the womb or after birth that the child develops. Doctors call this "true" short leg syndrome.

Sometimes, however, a child is born with or can develop not a single leg. With "functional" short leg syndrome legs are the same length when measured from the heel joint. However, the basin hip or sacroiliac joint is tilted, causing one leg to be longer when the patient is assessed from a sitting or lying position.

The main form of treatment for short legs is surgery. However, this depends on the severity of your medical symptoms. For children, the Surgery may be done early enough in life, which actually help the body to develop normally. With the aging of patients, the healing process will be more intense. The surgery involves breaking the bone and realigning or shortened so that both legs the same length function.

All have not need surgery, however. For some children, this problem can be solved fairly easily with only one shoe and special braces. If the wound is very low, your child may not even notice the difference for many years, but due to stress common, it is important to address the problem as soon as possible. Medical symptoms worsen with time. Medication and therapy can help with movement problems and pain associated with surgery.

It is important to note that some treat children with legs shorter than normal due to medical complications. Dwarfism can cause both short arms and legs, which may indicate neurological problems, respiratory, and other with the body too. Certain diseases and disorders may also cause sore leg. Thus, it is important that your doctor to thoroughly examine and diagnose the problem. Other medical conditions could be very serious.

Problems with short legs, if they are independent of other medical conditions or not, must not ruin the life of your child. With proper care, it is possible that your son or daughter to walk, run and even play sports.
