Rhythms Dance

It all started with a spider. Really, it started with a spider (Ananse) History:
There once was a powerful king with rich three beautiful daughters but no son. The girls were never allowed to leave the royal palace, and their names – Kpanlogo, Alogodzan and NMAA NMAA – were kept secret from the public.
As the king was older, he became more concerned that he had no son to inherit his throne. The old wise king devised a plan to get his throne. He envisioned a competition for all men of his kingdom: the man who knew the secret name of his three daughters, was winning hands in marriage, and thus inherit the throne.
Previously, a crafty man had made its way into the palace. He slid his way around and through the palace until he arrived at the three beautiful daughters to play. He began whipping and whirling, acting like a fool, which makes girls laugh at him. Not far away, their mother heard the din, and he wanted to know what all the commotion was. Mother cried elder Kpanlogo? Receiving no answer, she shouted to her other daughters, Alogodzan? NMAA NMAA? "With that, the man disappeared, leaving the girls to explain their mother what had taken place.
The day of competition of all unmarried men of the kingdom gathered in the palace of their chances of winning competitions from the king. One by one, they presented the king, trying to guess the names of his beautiful daughters. One by one, they have failed. Finally, it was the turn of the sly man. He had composed a song using the names of the girls and began to sing: "Kpanlogo Alogodzan Kpanlogo NMAA NMAA nn oo oo."
The crowd and the Royal Family were really surprised! However, no more than the king, who demanded to know how Sneaky man had learned the names of her precious girls. Sneaky Man captivated the crowds with his amazing tale of bravery and courage. The king was so impressed by the skill Sneaky Man, he willingly gave his hands his daughter in marriage to our crafty friend.
Like most of Ananse stories, this tale has been passed down from generation to generation in Africa West, specifically the Greater Accra Region of Ghana, both as a means of entertainment and education. After hearing the story told by his grandfather during the 1960s, a young man named Ga Otoo (UTO) Lincoln has been inspired to create a spectacle of this tale. Expand new rhythms, now known as Kpanlogo Lincoln incorporated aspects of traditional Ghanaian fishing folk dances, known as "Lolo" and that Africa "high life" of dances, rhythms similar to those of Clave (a Cuban rhythmic pattern), and influences blues-man U.S. Bo Diddley. Designed as a dance sport, Kpanlogo quickly caught on with young people of West Africa.

Similar in shape but smaller in size than a Conga drum Kpanlogo produces a rich and deep soft. The drum is approximately 24 inches in height and has a head 10 to 12 inches in diameter. The head is traditionally made from antelope skin, however, May be made of calf or goat, with the production of calfskin similar to the strongest antelope. Being a pin-type drum, it is set by typing on the pegs in the drum corps. The drum is played strictly by hand.
Kpanlogo The orchestra consists of two drums Kpanlogo (male and female) the bells of iron double Shekere or gourd rattles. One or more square wooden drums (Tamale), the Gyil (xylophone), bamboo flute, clapping hands and whistles may all be incorporated to produce the sound of lively dance.
In the Ga language, means Kpana, dance and longo turn means so Kpanlogo means turning the dance. The dance features wildly swinging arms, torsos swirling, and pirouettes. Played equally by men and women, "Lolo" aspects, such as arm movements to draw in the nets very busy, we can easily see the structure of the dance, as hints of rock and dance roll. Comedian movements, turning faster by foot stamping, facial expression and coquetry all play their role in completing the form.
The sexual connotations implied in the exercise were used to dance temporarily banned by the government in the mid-1960s. Officials ordered to a demonstration of dancing to consider for themselves the final decision of the adequacy of dances. Cleverly, those engaged in the performance Special marginally changed their steps and movements. After this examination, authorities determined a dance Kpanlogo appropriate social and lifted the ban. From that moment Kpanlogo became the favorite dance social and festive people of Ghana, currently conducted by young and old alike.
