Defenses against knife attacks, Firstly, if possible, get yourself and anyone else in the area of potential danger ….. RUN AWAY.

Yes you heard right, run left. This is not a cowardly way out, this is significant. After all your potential assailant could be drugs or just crazy. Nobody needs a dead hero.

However, if you can not get away or if you are stuck, try to talk your way out of the situation, tell the guy what he wants to hear or give him what he wants, if a flight with aggression, but only if you think this will calm him down …

Let me explain. If it appears that your abuser is being stab you if you give all your money or not, then you must do something about the situation before it happens, either way you may get stabbed. Thats why he is a last resort and only attempted if you are sure it will attack you no matter what.

It is a decision that only you can do and if you never get in this situation, it will not be easy.

So, you're in this nightmare. How can you face him?

Do you use the knife defense you learned in your martial arts classes? I hope not because you'll very soon bleed to death if your assailant has any idea how to use the knife.

I tried an experiment about 5 years ago now with my training partner who is very quick with his hands and can handle a knife. We used a dummy knife (fortunately) with ink red on the end of it and I wore a white Gi.

I was in training time are in the martial arts for about 16 years and has learned many defenses knife many different styles so I was sure that everything came to me, for I could manage.

He moved the knife quickly from hand to hand and attacked from a variety of angles, slashing, lunging and really going for it. I was successfully disarmed several times but each time he had also stabbed me several times (This is why the police and prison riot shields use of services and several officers when dealing with knife attackers).

We worked this scenario using all means of defense knife we both learned many different styles over the years, but the factor that was frequently cited was that it was simulate a real situation, if the perpetrator was not in position and does not come with a single attack in a straight line, he was attacked several times From any angle very quickly.

What we were looking for something that has kept the vital organs below the knife as possible while allowing you to attack the assailant.

Here's what we came up with: (This is only my opinion based on over 20 years experience in arts martial, and it has worked on numerous occasions. But remember only use as last resort)

First you must take your attackers distract what he thinks about (Ie stabbing you!) ……… spit in the face, not nice, but remember this guy wants to stab you!

This gives you a split second to move.

Next, drop to your side, quickly! (Breakfall Side) As you make your hook feet behind the back of his front foot and with your other foot, stamp hard on the front of his knee. This will either snap or dislocate it (Again not nice but this guy will stab you!) It does not depend too much if you miss with the hook that you can still get the stamp in the knee.

Either disarm him while he is on the ground and wait for the police or simply out of there, you only hunt.

The fall and hook take some practice to get faster, but it's worth that is one worth having in your arsenal.
