Random Nutrition Facts That Can Have A Huge Impact On Fat Loss

by Katherine Crawford, M.S.

You can’t avoid this fact: to lose weight you have to be in a negative caloric balance. You simply can’t avoid the law of thermodynamics. Having said that, it does pay to focus on the smaller details.

You see, missing the smaller details of your nutrition program can make dieting life much harder than it has to be.

So here are some random nutrition facts that can have a huge impact on fat loss:

1. You care constantly dehydrating: Most people simply drink when they are thirsty or when they are eating. Unfortunately, this is not the best way to hydrate since you constantly lose water though respiration and perspiration. Aim to drink water every 1-2 hours.

2. Dark honey is the healthiest sweetener: Not only is it high in anti oxidants, but it tastes really good. Use dark honey instead of sugar or other nutrient-deprived sources of sweetness. And if possible, use artificial sweeteners such as xylitol or stevia, but in extreme moderation.

3. No amount of trans fats are safe: In fact, many people in the medical community are considering trans fats to be membrane active drugs. This is how bad these Franken fats are for you. You see, they literally change the structures of your cells.

4. Low carb is good if you have a big belly: Now I’m talking about a disproportionately big belly here. You see, visceral fat, or fat around your mid section, is highly correlated with insulin resistance. So make sure you try going low carb if you can’t lose fat the balanced way.

5. Plant saturated fats are healthy: Not all saturated fats are created equal. You see, plant saturated fats have longer carbon chains which makes them much healthier than animal saturated fats. In fact, coconut, for instance, could be considered a “super food”, per se.

In the end, calories in versus calories out will dictate how much fat you lose unless you are insulin resistant. The good news, is that losing fat is the best way to reverse insulin resistance. So make sure you take action here sooner rather than later!
