Quit Smoking Weight Gain Tips

Alright. You have successfully given up smoking and are now beginning to notice that your pants have just begun to become a little tighter around your waist. Uh – oh. You might be suffering from the quit smoking weight gain syndrome. The good thing is that several studies have been made on how not to gain weight as soon as you quit smoking. Here are some of the following:

Exercise. Get rid of those quit smoking weight gain pounds by moving around. walk rather than ride and climb the stairs rather than using the elevator. You may ride a bike to work or school if commuting in your place is safe. Go jogging with friends and count the number of steps you take each day by at least 10,000. Buy a pedometer to keep track of those steps.

Change the way you eat. Sometimes, your hunger cravings are all in the mind. It is a given that when you stop smoking, your appetite will increase so make a wise choice and lean toward the healthy type of food. Have support from friends who eat healthy so that you would stick to your resolution of eating healthy food.

Drink healthy beverages. Drinks such as fruit shakes and juices are much healthier than carbonated soft drinks which may contribute to a lot of weight gain. Also, drinking a lot of water may help contribute to that feeling of fullness. It may sound a little weird but sometimes you mistake the feeling of thirst for the feeling of hunger. When eating in restaurants, never forget that you always have the option to ask for water.

Remember that quit smoking weight gain syndrome is just temporary. You can easily lose those pounds as fast as you gained them. Never beat yourself up for gaining those pounds. You have already done so much by just quitting smoking.
