My pedometer in pokemon platinum wont work!?

I changed my poketch on my pedometer to see how many steps I took, and as I rode the bike nothing happened. I got off my bike and walked and nothing happens. I clicked back a step but when I went there again, the number was it before and still do not work would be stuck. What should I do? Turned off and on again still doesn't work
