Phil Ivey is the greatest poker player in the planet according to the professional poker players themselves. However, not all knew about him because he’s seldom seen playing in big tournaments.

Phil’s record claim 8 final tables in the WPT and one win. He also got 6 WSOP bracelets. However, none of these winnings come from Texas Hold ‘Em which is the only poker kind that appears on television.

His record as the finest poker player worldwide comes from his capability to win cash games, and winning millions every year. Nevertheless, these tables is not usual for the average citizen. He always plays his cash games first rather than the tournaments.

His ability to win cash games can be seen on his rewards. He got 6 bracelets so far from 5 different WSOP games. You see, if you want to be a superstar like him that plays against the best poker rivals like Doyle and Co., you need to have definite knowledge about all kinds of poker games, because in these games you’ll encounter a mixed combination’s of games each night.

At this high risk game, you need to choose what kind of poker should be played each round. For instance, if Sammy Farha is playing then expect that there would be PLO amongst the mixture of games. All professional and novice players alike has their own game preference and they fought hard just to make sure that their favored game will be on the rotation.

Phil is a 7 Card Stud professional, has acquired 2 PLO bracelets, and has 2 mixed event bracelets to his name. He’s also final tabled multiple H.OR.S.E. Tournaments.

No one is representing steeper stakes, or doing better in those games than Ivey. How high will Ivey play? In February 2006, he played heads-up Limit Texas Hold’ Em versus Texas billionaire Andy Beal. With stakes at $25,000/$50,000, Ivey won over $16,000,000 over the course of three days.

Maybe you’ll pick another best player in the world according to your game play. But Phil Ivey can win them all and if I have to select, Ivey is still the best poker player in town. One deficiency he had from the start is that he never won a Main Event in his career, but once he get one then the discussion is over.
