A digital pedometer is a small digital device that calculates the distance you walk or run, based on the number of steps you've taken. Thus, a pedometer is also known as stepometer.

As it is not easy to count mentally the number of steps a person walk in an average day, most fitness enthusiasts or people looking to lose weight prefer to get one to help them achieve their goals daily exercise.

How does a pedometer?

A basic pedometer includes a mechanical sensor that counts the number of steps based the amount of your body trembles. The sensor can sense the vibration of your feet hitting the ground or the movement of your body, hips, and in the software can add the counter and keep track of the number of steps.
