Venezuela is a country of outstanding natural beauty and dramatic contrasts. The snow-capped Andes to the west, steamy Amazon jungles in the south, the hauntingly beautiful Gran Sabana plateau, with its strange flat topped mountains, east and 3000 km of beaches of white sand lined with coconut trees along the Caribbean coast.

The Venezuela is bordered by the Caribbean, Guyana, the ocean Atlantic, Brazil and Colombia.
Venezuela offers the tourist a wide variety of landscapes from tropical beaches, immense plains, enormous rivers, forests, jungles, waterfalls and great mountains.
Nestled in a long narrow valley, Caracas, the capital, is typical of the new Venezuela, while one of the oldest cities established in the country.
The 4,000 miles of Caribbean coastline represents the major tourist destination in the country. The region has many beautiful beaches and resorts ranging from luxury compared to the unashamedly opulent, which stretch along the coast.
The coastal regions north of the highlands of Guyana has few beaches and tourist resorts. These include Higuerote and Lecheria. The Guyana Highlands lie south of the Orinoco River and constitute half the land area.
La Gran Sabana National Reserve is the largest of the plateaus of Venezuela and has an extraordinary array of wildlife.
Some local specialties are Tequeños, thin dough wrapped around a finger of local white cheese and fried crispy and arepas, the bread of the country.
There are many nightclubs and discotheques in major cities.
Visual arts and crafts are popular, but the country's most distinctive cultural output is probably its music, which is an eclectic mix of works European, African and indigenous rhythms.
The theater is growing in popularity, and there is an active literary scene, especially among the younger generation.
Roman Catholicism is by far the dominant religion in Venezuela, and has been adopted by most indigenous people only living in isolated regions still practice their ancient tribal beliefs. The Protestant church has a significant presence, and recently won ground, attracting adherents to the Catholic Church. A pantheistic sect unusual and obscure, known as the cult of Mari Lionza exists in the northwest and combines indigenous beliefs Hispanic, African Voodoo and Christian religious practices. Spanish is spoken by almost all Venezuelans, although some 25 indigenous languages are spoken by remote tribes. English is spoken by few people in urban centers.
