Multi Touch Screen Monitors Information

by Rob Toole

Touch screen technology dates back to 1965 when UK inventor E. A. Johnson developed a capacitive display for air traffic controllers. Nearly half a century later, the technology has morphed into many different uses, including multi touch screen monitors for computers.

Smartphones have tap technology, as do PDAs, ATM machines and the debit/credit card machine at the local grocers. Whether consumers use their fingertips or a stylus – the hard little “pen” – to tap the screen, this phenomena of electronics is found everywhere.

In fact, educational institutions have jumped on board, providing students with interactive touch devices for quick and easy learning – great for the student with ADHD who needs positive stimulation and interaction to learn effectively. Lest we forget the hospital that cannot have a bunch of keyboards and mice set up in a patient’s room to access doctor’s orders and records; touch screen technology is literally to the rescue.

So, why not ditch the mouse and keyboard and infuse this technology in with the home or work computer set up? Perhaps one of the most annoying things about a computer is all of the attachments required to utilize the machine. Yes, mice and keyboards have gone wireless, but users still have to fumble around them when trying to work at their desks. Both Microsoft and Apple have incorporated finger tap technology into the latest software versions, so there’s nothing stopping newer computers from having this special monitor.

The average size of these monitors is 21.5 inches, although some come as small as 15 inches. Cost, however, varies widely, running anywhere from a little over $200 to thousands of dollars depending on the size, resolution and technology the consumer is looking for. Display types are either LCD or LED back-lit, and numerous brands manufacturer these amazing little computer displays.

Consumers can ditch the keyboard and mouse once the monitor is set up, and type, surf the World Wide Web, navigate from program to program, etc., just like they would using the keyboard and mouse; pretty convenient to have that extra space on the desk, and not worry about a flighty keyboard or mouse halfway through typing the important presentation the boss is waiting for.

Multi touch screen monitors take the phrase, “hands-on convenience” literally and offer the user the ability to control every possible computer command with the touch of the screen. Not to mention the ease of having the instructions for the paper being researched right in front of you, instead of off to the side because the keyboard is in the way.
