Additional factors include sampling or synthesis, and beat boxing. The term rap music is often used synonymously with the term hip hop music, but gangster rap vocals are not necessary for music to be regarded as hip hop.

Creation of the term hip hop is usually credited to Keith Cowboy, rap artists with Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five. However, Lovebug Starski, Keith Cowboy, and DJ Hollywood used the word when the music was still being known as disco rap. It is believed that Cowboy created the term while teasing a buddy who had just joined the U.S. Army, by scat singing the words “hip/hop/hip/hop” in a way that mimicked the rhythmic cadence of marching soldiers. Cowboy later worked the hip hop cadence into a part of his stage performance, which was quickly utilized by other rap performers such as The Sugarhill Gang in “Rapper’s Delight”.

Hip hop music was initially perfected during the nineteen seventies. To become one of the famous hip hop artists one ought to sing well, develop the right attitude, and even more importantly know how to dance.
