What is the purpose of the heart of gold I've seen in babies chest?

I've seen this mostly House, MD, but I have seen in other programs. They showed new-born babies in the nursery with a heart of gold on his chest. I searched the internet and can not find what it is. Does anyone know the purpose or function of the heart? Is it a monitor of lead or something?
