Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) is very popular these days among men who tried to get in shape while learning to defend themselves. Bodybuilders find much the sport and as the idea of getting fit while learning to better fight. Similarly, many MMA fighters are discovering the benefits of training the weights to help in the ring fighting.

Note that you could never really become very advanced in terms of bodybuilding and MMA simultaneously. They require different energy expenditures and food or training protocols. But you can become a great bodybuilder, MMA using a technique cardio to help you lose body fat while working to achieve your bodybuilding goals. You'll look good and be able to treat you well.

Training

Make them independent events — Try to avoid adding weight training routines MMA, and fight for your days of weight training.

Diet

Eat like a bodybuilder, but include extra carbohydrates before your workout MMA, and then proteins to account additional pressure you put on your body. Remember to include plenty of clean, slow burning carbohydrates, recovery. Also a very good mixture of casein protein at night will be a great help to heal your body.

Recovery

If you're training like a bodybuilder 3-4 days a week, and as a fighter for 3-4 days per week, your body takes quite a beating, literally. Your central nervous system (CNS) probably worked very hard to get back into the grinding of heavy weight training, and the reflective nature and the suppression MMA fights.

Bodybuilder and MMA are a unique combination, which is becoming a popular hybrid in the sport today. See if it's just for you! Remember to train moderately, eat properly and get plenty of rest.
