The first metal detector was invented by Alexander Graham Bell in 1881, shortly after the invention of the telephone in 1876. Later, Fischer came out with a portable one in 1931. Today, the metal detectors are used in many areas, from treasure hunting to security. These are electronic devices and are used to find signs of metal. It is used in order to find the ground, people or goods. The materials can be on the floor can be a piece of iron, aluminum, etc., or it may indicate buried even Metal can bury everything from used parts from aluminum resources. These detectors can penetrate various non-metallic materials such as earth, wood, sand, etc.
Metal Detectors have electronic devices with a battery case at one end and a handle for the operating arm on the other. It has wound a coil of insulated wire around a telescopic shaft made that is in a plastic disk. The device is held parallel to the ground by the angle at which the record comes out of the shaft. The electronics is located in the Hand held, is turn on the unit and the coil end to slowly swept across the ground. If the trace of metal is on or buried in the ground, an electronic beep sounds when the device sweeps the ground.
The discovery of electromagnetism by Hans Christian Oersted in 1820. It is the science of the combined effect the electric and magnetic field. If this electromagnetic field of the earth, the metals tend to penetrate will be charged with the magnetism. When this happens, the coil detects the electromagnetic behavior and sends a signal to the electronics box. There are 3 types of metal detectors following 3 different technologies:
1. Beat Frequency Oscillator: These detectors have a coil as an inductor in an oscillator. The frequency changes, there is a change in inductance. There is a second oscillator that produces a close frequency. The beeps between them is the presence of metal.
2. Induction balance detector: This Guy has 2 coils, overlapping each other. It sends waves and the other receives. The two are always set so that when the absence of metal, they show no or beep.
3. Pulse Induction detector produces: This kind impulses, by dropping an indicator. A coil sends the pulse and the detector looks for echoes.
