During a recent trip to St. Petersburg, I was really surprised to see how the city is beautiful and how much there to do and see there.
In the city its self has a far horizon with the dramatic increase of new buildings from the and the old standards, like the pier, which is a catchy inverted pyramid. I say it's an old standard, because the pier is an integral part of downtown area in its current form since 1973 and in some form since 1889. Local festivals are still held there and for a community were long dances too. You can fish, shop, dine, there is even a small patch of beach for fun and an aquarium, but the best part is, it is in the middle of downtown if it is fun and practical.
Tampa Bay is also an integral part of life in St. Petersburg. Not only is it a beautiful body of water, but not to shocks of life in St. Petersburg on a daily basis. Fishing in the bay adds to the local economy and you have to cross the bay a certain point, if you want to get around in St. Petersburg, but there is also a pleasure to have on the bay. Sail boaters especially like it because it is very large yet protected making it an ideal place for many regattas and races are held there each year.
Furthermore, spanning the bay is one of the wonders of modern America, if not the world – The Sunshine Skyway Bridge. As we went on deck, I was impressed by its size, more than five miles long is the longest cable-stayed bridge main span suspension America. Any Day the week there are people around the Old Bridge, just off the news, fishing or taking pictures or just standing looking over the side everything that is through either a boat pod of dolphins or a stripe. It is too inviting not to stop and look around what is exactly what we did. We spent an hour just watching people taking pictures and looking for Sealife.
If you are a sports fan from St. Petersburg is a great place too. Tampa Bay Devil Rays baseball team have been there is the home stadium, Tropicana Field, in St. Petersburg since 1998. Tropicana Field was also the stadium hosted the St. Petersburg Bowl, an NCAA-sanctioned football game since College Bowl December 2008. The St. Pete Times Forum is a center for sports and recreation which hosts over 150 events including concerts, ice shows and circuses. The Forum is home for the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Tampa Bay Storm of the Arena Football League. It hosts many events such as the Quarter-finals NCAA Basketball Men and the Women's Final Four. In 2012, the Forum is scheduled to host the Frozen Four, which is the NCAA Division I Men's Hockey Finals.
For everyone you cultural 'there are things like the Salvador Dali Museum. The Dali Museum has more than 200,000 visitors annually from around the world, perhaps because most houses Dalà collection of works in the world. With exhibitions changing, have two sets of films, lectures and concerts. The Dali Museum maintains a strong partnership with the community of St. Petersburg as well as museums and educational institutions around the world. The museum continues to preserve and protect its collective works, while making them accessible and open to the enjoyment and education of all peoples, enhancing public appreciation of Salvador Dali and his many great works. It is a perfect place to spend an afternoon and perhaps even introduce children to a great artist. Speaking of young St Petersburg has a large children's museum called Great Explorations, and the Museum Fine Arts, a historical museum and a Holocaust museum. Near Fort De Soto is also an ideal place for children to take look back in time and spend a day. For some leisure time there are many beaches around and nearby islands to explore.
As I have said before, there is much to do and see in St. Petersburg, I was delighted and amazed. While planning your trip make sure to do your homework and intrigue enough time to fully appreciate the area.
