special carpets you can put on a carpeted floor or area that is comfortable to sit?

I'm free I want to convert this room to "hang out" or "reading" room. The apartment may be too small for a loveseat, and I was thinking floor mats or something and maybe a few comfortable chairs. Mats fold easily if he wanted to exercise or whatever. What do you think?
