Lee Uniform
Buttons on your Civil War uniform is one of those little things that can make a big difference. The buttons are cheap and original can always be found to the canteen, antique shops and flea markets.
In ECHOES OF GLORY: Weapons and equipment of the Confederation, buttons Paine of the jacket look like little buttons Eagle U.S. even if one of them looks like a calendar button, and other similar raw brass, but it is difficult said of the photo.
They are not the original buttons because the buttons would have been home full-size keys. Buttons Virginia State seal might have been appropriate buttons on this jacket.
Even in photos, and museums where you see the original jackets, you donÂ't know when the buttons have been added. Many of these jackets have been received by the museum without keys and buttons were added.
Even General Lee gave some of his buttons his jacket to someone who wrote a letter to him and I wanted a souvenir. You can never be 100% sure that the buttons on the jackets are correct because the buttons can be so easily removed, dropped or lost. Thinking on the buttons on your clean clothes and how they are loose, lost, etc., and you will not fight a war and living in these clothes as Civil War soldiers did.
The buttons on the jacket Jenkins in Echoes of Glory: Arms and equipment of the Confederation obviously added. If I make a jacket Jenkins, I would use Virginia State Seal buttons. A good reproduction buttons can be found at most canteen.
Buttons on your Civil War uniform are some small details that add to the authenticity of your uniform. They are easy to put on and does not cost much money. I think it a rare opportunity to be able to find an original article for your uniform. Buttons are one of the items those ita's the little details that make all the difference.
