Type 1 diabetes and insulin resistance?
I am a type 1 diabetes for more than 18 years. I have two questions here. 1) for the past 2 years I've been more and more insulin, put on more than 25 pounds, am always in the constant mist and tired, and my blood sugars at a constant roller coaster. Do you think I may suffer from insulin resistance? I looked at the line, and all signs explain exactly what I go through. Any suggestions on how this help? I changed my diet to more protein than 3 months ago what I once thought may be wrong, and my blood sugars are still a mess and I'm still tons of insulin. I may need some medication to control this? I also practice at least 5 times a week:: I walk / jog:: and I see no improvements. and 2) As I said before I sulk at more than 25 pounds in 2 years, and no matter how hard I will not exercise yield. I work and do sit ups and my stomach is still weak … suggestions have to lose this extra buldge?
Ok, a few suggestions for you. You can build a resistance to the type of insulin you use, so it might be worth a conversation with your doctor to see about trying something else. I've been diagnosed for just under 13 years and my insulin was 3 times. Another suggestion is to think about the size of the needle you use. They come in all different lengths. I actually thought that the 12mm was better for me, because the 8mm did not go far enough, and so my body is not receiving the dose should have been. Are you running your injections? Do not have hard lumps just under the skin? Ok, maybe I try to teach you egg sucking after 18 years, but you would not believe the amount of the diabetics I have met who have been diagnosed longer than me and still not know about lipodystrophy. Certainly not beautiful. Finally there is a new thing that started to get implimented in my clinic for type 1 diabetes patients taking metformin in addition to their insulin, for those who do not seem to be the insulin they need – that is just their HbA1c down. I started it and my HbA1c has already started down. You do not mention your age, but I heard something that says that once you hit 30 – it is really difficult to fight fat. You're not exercise seems to be a problem, so I go for a chat with your dietitian. Mine gave me some great advice, because I have recently been snacking too much on comfort food.
