Kendo Shinai

Kendo sticks, called Shinai in Japanese, are equipment used in kendo. They are like swords and fencing are used to aggressively attack an opponent by hitting points on the head, throat, sides, and wrists. Traditionally, they consist of a number of sticks bamboo wrapped with strips of leather at one end with a leather handle on the other.

Types to choose

Today, kendo come in two sticks of bamboo and synthetic forms. Bamboo sticks are composed of four pieces split bamboo, wrapped and tied with strips of leather, measuring 40 to 47 inches in length. They are great all around sticks, operation for both practice and for defensive purposes. Sticks synthesis, on the other hand, are made from lightweight carbon fiber, with the same length from 40 to 47 inches. They are very durable, able to last more than about 10 times longer than their counterparts of bamboo, and are best used by professional intermediaries Kendo practitioners.

Choosing sticks

When it comes to choosing kendo sticks, it is preferable that you look for one that matches the level of your competence. If you are a beginner, bamboo sticks cheap are an excellent choice for you. Once you become better in this sport, you can move on and negotiate your bamboo sticks to more expensive synthetic carbon fibers. As for durability, the beginner and the professional have different needs from each other, as dictated by their skill level. In this case, bamboo sticks are best for beginners synthetic sticks while carbon fiber is ideal for professionals and those who are in competition.
