You may wonder what light can do for you besides make it easier to walk around, but the fact is that light therapy for healing and pain relief is used all over the world with sometimes startling results. Too many benefits of shining different lights on parts of the body have been documented to dismiss this treatment as nonsense.
Even the FDA of the United States, an agency charged with examining drugs and treatments for safety and effectiveness, has approved some forms of light therapy. One such is exposing patients to focused blue light, to treat acne. Used in the doctor’s office or home for fifteen minutes twice a week, a DPL light therapy system destroys bacteria that damage the skin.
No side effects have been found for this system, in contrast to antibiotics, which cause patients to lose some of their natural immunity and to be sun sensitive. With light therapy, patients can also have the acne clearing benefits of natural sunlight, as well as their daily dose of Vitamin D. The blue light is isolated from harmful ultraviolet light ‘bands’, or frequencies; a rainbow breaks light up into its component bands, some of which you can see.
“Color Me Healthy” by Robert Jay Rowen, MD, who practiced in New York, is a great introduction to light therapy. Dr. Rowan explains that ultraviolet light can be used to treat blood that has been taken from a patient. When the blood is returned, it has absorbed the frequency of the light, and it can restore health in many different contexts. Weird but true!
Frequency is understood to destroy disease organisms and to restore health in many contexts, all Greek to me but I still believe it. Music is a proven therapy, and it of course is a frequency (or has them, or something). Electronic vibrations on certain frequencies will destroy certain parasites and viruses; the science is simple but specific. Now practitioners, and horse owners, stimulate acupuncture points with red light beams, and see a remarkable decrease in pain, swelling, and general health.
Beyond red light is the infrared frequency, invisible to humans. It penetrates deep through tissue to deliver heat to the target area, fostering circulation and beneficial perspiration, resulting in detoxification through the skin and by way of the kidneys. People visit infrared saunas for cleansing during many health restoring regime.
Dinshah Ghadiali was a 19th century Indian, trained as a medical doctor but skeptical of many standard practices. His writings on chromotherapy (color therapy) relate his experiments with existing theories and the successes that led him to use light in many hopeless situations with joyous results. He began by shining light from a kerosene lantern through an indigo-colored glass bottle. Later he developed his own system he called Spectro-chrome.
So what? You can shine a flashlight through glass and heal yourself? Yes, and no. You can actually buy kits with isolated color film disks, to put over a light source when you want a home treatment. You can visit a licensed or certified practitioner. But in emergencies, yes! Use what knowledge and color you have at hand. People say just exposing your glass of water to full-spectrum sunlight can boost its health giving properties.
Learning about light therapy for healing and pain relief is fascinating, and the knowledge just may save your life one day.
Gretchen Robertvine just started using her DPL Nuve, and is already getting results. She writes for firms such as Better Health Innovations, a leader in light therapy lamp systems.
