Whata is the best way to price a product or service? What are the things you need to consider? Most business owners not quite sure what to do will simply use the pricing of their competitors and the price is below or above. The question ask is then how do you know that their price is right?

Leta's examine the factors you must consider when pricing. First, you must determine your target prices. It basically defines what we want to achieve. There are 3 objectives of pricing considered.

1. Income-oriented pricing

This set a price that will maximize revenue from target market. For example, if your day care center is to offer something that other nurseries are not able to provide, as a particular program, you can consider such a goal.

2. Operations-Oriented Pricing

It seeks to balance supply and demand. It introduces lower prices during periods of calm (or when demand is low) and increased prices during peak periods (when demand is higher). For example, during the holiday season, when parents send their children, you can offer short courses / Optional.

3. Target Market Price

It uses different prices for different target markets. For example, you can provide parents who have more than one child in your care a discount to parents who only place one child at your center.

Then, you must consider the pricing strategy you intend to adopt. The pricing strategy defines how you will achieve your aim. There are 3 different strategies that you can adopt.

a. Market skimming

Do you think your child care or services generates value? Do you think your customers will be able to afford it? If you are the only daycare center or who is selected to offer? If your answer is yes, then you might consider skimming the market. It is mainly dependent on higher possible price. You must decide if what you offer something the customer values. For example, you offer a particular program that other nurseries are not offering and you think that value-added programs is something that your client will be willing to pay. Or your center is the only center of the city closes 8pm and it's something that you think your customer values and is willing to pay. To charge a higher price also means that you need to communicate that to your potential customer through effective means of promotion.

b. Market penetration

If are a number of nurseries and all you offer essentially the same curriculum or services, then you should consider charging for entry. This essentially means keeping prices low to gain a greater share of the market.

c. Price Adjustment

The last strategy and the price is more complicated adjustment. It offers different prices on different target market. For example, parents who spend 2 children more at your local day care is offered a discount. But what happens when the siblings are of school age. It might be difficult to return to a higher price.

The pricing strategy is something that plague many entrepreneurs. While low prices may mean a greater chance increase recruitment, the low prices could mean that you need to cut some luxuries such as meals or quality programs, which could affect the image of your center. Therefore, it is important to think very carefully before setting a price, because in most cases, itÂ'll be difficult to reverse this decision.
