Can I ripped through a cable (aka pulley) machine at the gym?

I am 5'11 ", 170 lbs, and am in pretty good shape. When I work, I usually use free weights to supplement with machines like the leg press (because I'm scared of squats), etc. Recently I've been going to a crappy community gym because it is so close to home. They have limited equipment, but they do have a very nice crossover cable machine where I can do lat pull, chest press, etc. – the machine has adjustable long arms, so there are a ton configurations. I can push myself with that machine, but I wonder if it is severely limiting my muscle growth. I just want to fit and lean with a above average musculature, but nothing too freaky. Is it possible to complete one, muscle-growth-inducing workout on this baby?

Ummm I think you would get better for free weights and a bench and use them at home. These machines will help, but pretty big muscles, like the men in the gym .. you should lift free weights .. I mean, they say Boflex machines are OK, but those results you see on TV are not typical, heck they probably do not really .. You need to buy Muscle magazine ..
