The moment you decide to lose some weight, you have to create an exercise plan. Maybe you’ve never exercised before, or at least not in the recent past. Even though it can appear overwhelming, you can work your way into an exercise program bit by bit by walking. You should unquestionably include walking to any exercise routine you start.
There are many ways to mix walking into your daily schedule. You may want to take your beloved dog for a 10-minute stroll around the block. You may only be walking for ten minutes at a time, but after one week that corresponds to a minimum of minutes, which is quite a lot of walking. You can double the number if you walk your dog twice every day. If you don’t live too far away from work, consider walking there, or at least a part of the way. Don’t even think about walking if you’re two hours away from your workplace–unless you wish to get up the crack of dawn daily! It’s not unreasonable to walk to get to your workplace and it will give you at least an hour of exercise each day walking back and forth. If you ride a bus to work, merely walk to the next bus stop so that you do some more walking in the day. Its not hard to add in walking.
Walking is excellent for your body and overall health. As it’s a cardiovascular exercise, you’ll burn off calories, which means you’ll shed off a few extra pounds and it’s also wonderful for your heart. Unlike running, which can put a strain on your joints, you can walk at a pace you choose. My brother is very lean (but he consumes a lot of junk food) and I ask him how he manages to do it. He states he doesn’t know but mentioned to me that he does a lot of walking each day. After that, it all made sense. The simplicity of walking makes it inconceivable to come up with reasons for not doing it.
Follow a day-to-day walking routine, combine it with proper diet, and you should experience weight loss without any big effort. Through walking, you’ll also feel better and you won’t be discouraged by it as it’s not strenuous at all, which will make you feel more driven. You can up the intensity level of your walking as you grow used to walking regularly. There’s no reason not to do it if you feel fine with that. Walk at a faster pace than you usually do and maybe jog for a few steps along the way if you feel like it. The next step will be to move on to even heavier activities.
It’s hard to come up with excuses for not taking walks for short distances every day. Even busy people can find 10 minutes every day to walk around the neighborhood or go to the local gym for a stint on the treadmill.
