Everyone is looking for the magic diet pill, break through latest diet, or great exercise machine that will finally allow them to lose weight fast. They jump from fad to fad, but ultimately find themselves gaining back all the weight they had lost and getting nowhere.

If you are still wondering if there is a big secret for losing weight fast, the answer is no. There are no hidden secrets waiting for you to discover them. There is just one proven formula and some basic principles you need to follow to finally lose weight fast.

The basic formula that helps you lose weight is simply to eat fewer calories than you burn. That is the big secret you have been searching high and low for. What this formula means is that for you to be able to lose weight fast you will be required to cut down on the calories you consume and exercise as much as you can without harming your body.

Eating less than about 1200 calories per day is usually not recommended by physicians and weight loss experts. Starving yourself is not an effective way to try to lose weight and could endanger your health. Another thing is you need to do is eat balanced, healthy meals and not just eat grapefruits everyday or whatever the latest fad diet is telling you to do.

To lose weight fast, you should aim at eating about 1200 calories per day and doing about one hour of exercise every day. This is about the maximum level of effort that your body can probably handle. If you follow a program similar to this you can reasonably expect to lose somewhere around three to five pounds a week when your first start out and about three pounds after the first few weeks.

To lose or maintain weight for the long term, it is more realistic to try to lose one or two pounds a week. You will be able to get this done through eating healthy, low fat, low calorie foods and exercising enough to burn off 500 to 1000 calories more than you consume every day. So to lose weight on a consistent basis or to maintain your current weight, follow a similar regime.

However, you do need to keep in mind that you need to not exceed your body’s limits or over do it to the point that you put your health in danger.
