Eskrima Escrima

Fighting Style Eskrima is effective without weapons?
I know that you first learn to use weapons, but it remains unarmed techniques, my point is how effective for unarmed combat (punches and grappling and especially because I know it uses many stairs). I wandering why most people like to train in Eskrima supplement and not as primary martial art (usually after they choose Escrima kung fu).
"Eskrima" is a very effective system when you unarmed. When I FMA first group I was like 'When is someone going to attack me when I a stick? ". Through practice I realized that a good defense you must first understand the offense be. This means that the footwork – and to some extent the hand movements – the same as you with a stick or not. Most groups teaching FMA "You're the gun!" – Not the stick. What happens if you drop it? Are you meant off? Or return to another art? What a waste of time would be When. You training for yourself to defend against knife and stick the whole time kicks and punches feel less daunting. They move slowly. They do less damage. They have less range. Obviously they are still effective. I train in a style where my GM Masters of other styles (Kung Fu, Silat, MMA, karate, etc.) come to the Philippines to train with him. Thet always try techniques from other systems and will fight them with his knowledge FMA. He has not trained camps but such concepts may apply to a mountain of a rear choke. On the floor or standing is not a problem if the IMO all martial arts are connected as we are all human. So, as the beginning of the poster discussion. Yes – it is an effective style without weapons, but you need someone to show you the concepts and they can understand. Good lessons – and beign a good student – is the key! Good luck! Simon.
