Ereader – Ever Thought of Getting One?

There is a lot of dispute whether one needs an eReader Device or not. The eReader is becoming ever more popular and even those who were against the gadgets can be seen in public with their Kindles, or other brands of eReaders.

When reading a good book, you not only reading it with your eyes, you are also feeling its touch and smelling its smell. There is something romantic about reading a book.

The eReader, however, will do no such thing. It has no soul and no mystique. Is is just another gadget, a passing trend, that will wear off before we know it? I was always true to my books, and refused to read anything on my computer, even if that meant I would be unable to read it anywhere else.

What I like about books is that I can always remember what it was like to read it for the first time. Where was I when I reached the end. What is the meaning of that tear on page 241. A book is your companion. So, basically I was against electronic reading.

Everything has changed last Christmas when my parents got me an Amazon Kindle eReader as a gift. You can imagine my reaction when I unwrapped it. What were they thinking? Didnt they know me at all?

When my frustration started to wear off, I actually sat down to examine what had this strange device had to offer. It was a lot different than I though it would be. The first think that shocked me was, of course, the display.

The display on the eReaders, and on the Kindle as well, uses a technology called eInk. It makes the page look like it was real paper. There was absolutely no strain on my eyes.

After almost an hour of exploring I came to a conclusion that it was not as bad I thought it would be. Since I liked to travel and always carried around a few books with me, this could be a lifesaver.

Sure enough, reading my book at home is something I would never give up. But, having this eReader for traveling and commuting is a great bonus.

So, to answer the question, whether one needs an eReader device or not I think the answer is Yes. I wouldn’t throw all my books away, but having an eReader bag could be a good idea if you like to read on the move.
