Working on the alphabet with your preschooler or kindergarten can be a glorious adventure. The alphabet is literally all around us. He opened his eyes to their world magic eventually lead to the door of a reader. Reaching that destination can take a lot of hard work and a little imagination. Introduction of the alphabet the old routine that they have become accustomed over the years.

Look around your home or classroom, do you see a favorite toy for your student (s)? Does the letter focused on the week? Otherwise, choose an object that will satisfy this need. Create a screen or a business of using this issue as a focal point. Create cards individual letters to explain the issue / word and add a number in one corner of each card to indicate the ordinal pattern of letters. This activity will reinforce the numerical focus on too. Add to this center a small picture or a toy that represents the beginning sound of each of the letters of the larger object, display. If the exposure to additional letters or sounds becomes too overwhelming for the student (s) then focus on the "Letter of the week 'only. If you focus on the "Letter of the Week 'is the main objective then add a variety of cards with a photo of the letter placed in positions different – Example: For the letter B, a toy bus may be the subject of focus; use picture cards of a child, bath, ball, car, bubble, baby, etc. .. be sure to add the spelling on each card image. Many other items can be added to core / screen as well.

Creation of the screen can incorporate some of these suggestions or can stand alone as alphabet / sound activities.

1) Letters texture: Trace a letter (different sources are fun too) glue (add sand or salt if desired) and let dry. These are wonderful tactile experiences for the young student.

2) Scramblers Name: Wear the name of a student – Create custom letter cards – mix them and challenge students or colleagues to reorganize the cards to re-create the name. This can do with more advanced students as well – the class challenge to reach as many words as possible to reorganize the 'scrambled' word.

3) Memory Game Letter: Use of the letter of focus of the week – create cards with different styles (Use upper and lower case) from the letter, make 2 copies (laminate for durability), cut, mix the cards, individually and expose stomach; Play as any traditional-style lottery game.

Play 4) mass Mats: Creating large letters (aluminum) and that students display of snakes of dough and place on the lines of the letter to create the letter of focus. A variation of this activity would be the use of cookies dough – repeat the activity, then bake the way to eat during snack time.

5) Class Room Tags: Place labels around the room presenting objects that students traverse the room and count how many of the letter focused can spy. Change the labels of day a day to create a new, but fun, educational routine.

These are just some of the activities that can be easily incorporated in the day. As parents, childcare providers and educators we must provide the key to the door that leads to success in reading. Only your imagination even more its success and make the trip in this wonderful adventure.
