What kind of soldering iron should I use for this project?

I work with thin aluminum sheets and I need a way to craft wire to connect to the found. I do not want to make a torch, because I am a beginner and frankly, the idea of working with a torch makes me nervous. So, I think a portable iron My best bet would be, but where can I buy one and what are the best types? I heard about Cold Heat but I read that it had received a lot of bad reviews. Are there any other brands out there that I can order online? Oh, I was wrong, it's tin, not aluminum. Yeesh, I'm such a newb at this. : P Does that help?

The nature of the soldering iron depends on how big and gauge what material you work with. The "Best Types" are a matter of opinion, and what you feel comfortable. I suggest soldering 'a' dual warmth "gun" with a 1500 watt high heat. That gets most of the materials hot enough to solder in a reasonably short time, as long as you regularly use of solder. If you "Silver Solder", you now need a acetelyene / oxygen torch, as it has a much higher melting temperature. I DO NOT recommend this type of solder for general craft work. For craft work I recommend acid or solid acid core solder and solder flux. Hope this helps.
