Living life increases as the amount of calories eaten daily decreases until it reaches the healthy limit. Reduced daily calorie intake, even later in life can bring life and health benefits, according to professor Stephen Spindler of the University of California. Calorie diet may also anti-cancer effects.
Currently there are no "anti-aging drug" available for the lifetime, but new drugs are developed and tested on animals. Such drugs hold the potential human prolong life, according to Professor Spindler.
Previous studies have shown that a nutritious diet with small amounts of calories, the lifespan of the mice to expand by nearly forty percent. Dr. Spindler and his research team seeks to identify drugs to lifetime health benefits or effects without a low-calorie diet.
The experts are also looking at the gene pattern caused by low calorie diets and drugs that can mimic the changes caused by calorie diets even if they are to taken late in life. For example, a drug used to treat diabetes can lead to some of the health benefits of low calorie diets. Some drugs if they are taken for life, may introduce a low toxicity level.
