Only wash clothes in very hot water to shrink?

Did one (60% cotton and 40% polyester) karate outfit, it is WAY to big for me. I have no a washer or dryer at my house because I live in an apartment and I would not pay to get the karate outfit (only) washing and drying the laundry mat. So I'm sitting in a rental the outfit really hot water for a while the karate outfit would shrink without the use of a dryer and I can hang somewhere to dry .. Also I do not want to pay for a tailor, but all suggestions to make it smaller by sewing the method would work is fun. ;]

I think the best way for you to measure them because it does not shrink all that well because not 100% cotton. I suggest you wear karate uniforms inside out and make a few marks and start sewing around them (still with the karate uniform inside out) the appropriate make you more. Then you can put it back outside. and I am sure that more karate uniform will fit better. (Sorry if that does not explain too much) But if you still on shrinking, I suggest you wear your karate outfit, fill the bathtub with hot water (but not too hot, it can burn your skin) and let it sit. I think that when the water begins to cool until you can pants off and throw it in the dryer. See if something happens ..
