Jean Arp, also known as Hans Arp was a German-French painter, sculptor and poet. Born 16 September 1886, in Alsace, Strasbourg, France, from mother French and German father. He completed his education and training of the Strasbourg School of Arts and Crafts, Weimar, Germany, in 1904 and enrolled at the Academie Julian in Paris in 1908.

Afflicted by boredom and discouragement in the existing forms of painting, Jean Arp spent his early poetry. In 1904, he published his first collection of poetry in Paris, after passing out at the École des Arts et Métiers, Strasbourg. Later, he took the real initiative to rediscover his lost interest long ago in painting and sculpture. During 1905 to 1907, studied at Kunstschule, Weimar, and in 1908, at the Academie Julian. In 1909, Jean Arp moved to Switzerland and organized an exhibition in Lucerne under the label "Moderner Bund" in 1911. The following year, spent to meet Robert and Sonia Delaunay in Paris and Russian artist, Vasily Kandinsky in Munich. In 1912, Jean Arp shows his semi-figurative drawings in the second exhibition Blaue Reiter, and in 1913 he exhibited with the "expression" exhibition in Berlin in the Deutsche Herbstsalon Erste.

Create your own style with free forms Jean Arp successfully established himself as a poet and an artist of great merit. In 1914, he returned to Paris and became acquainted with legendary artists such as Guillaume Apollinaire, Max Jacob, Amadeo Modigliani, and Picasso. In 1915, Jean came to Switzerland. In Zurich, it also created great collages and tapestries, in association with Bond © e Sophie Taeuber, who tied the knot in 1922. One of the main founders of the movement "Dada Zà ¼ rich in 1916, Jean Arp, became the torchbearer of the philosophy of the movement and finally establish the Group of Cologne Dada 'in 1920, along with Max Ernst and Alfred Grà ¼ nwald. The animation and freedom in the group 'dad' was very attracted to him, and promoted its essence through the expansion of its exceptional and symbolic pictographs. However, in 1925, as "Dada" faded, the paintings of Jean Arp became a part of the first exhibition of "surrealist group 'in the Galerie Pierre in Paris.

As time went on, Arp discarded 'surrealism' and in 1931, he left the movement to form the "Abstraction-Creation" an informal group of artists in Paris, to counter the 'surreal. The writing remains the passion of Jean Arp throughout his life and succeeded in publishing many their write-ups. In 1943, Jean Arp married Marguerite Hagenbach, after the death of his first wife. In 1949, he visited the city of New York for an exhibition individual in the Buchholz Gallery. In 1954 he was awarded the Grand Prize for Sculpture at the Venice Biennale. Jean Arp was greeted with a presentation of their artworks in the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Musée © e National d'Art Moderne, Paris, France. He died in Basel, Switzerland, on 07 of junio 1966. A prominent character in 'Dadaism Summary "Surrealism" and "Art", reliefs and sculptures by Jean has had an influential authority on 20th century art.
