Poet's Manual and Rhyming Dictionary defines Clerihew poetry as "a humorous pseudo-biographical quatrain, which is like two rhymed couplets with line of uneven length more or less in the rhythm of prose. "This form of poetry was developed by Edmund Clerihew Bentley, English novelist in early 20th century. The first two lines of each stanza is rhymed together and the last two lines are rhymed with different sounds that rhyme the first two. One may also add the name of a topic to the poem, which may be found in the first or second lines. The name could also be divided between the two lines. The poem is normally based on humor and sometimes it is whimsical rather than satiric. What follows is a series of four stanza Clerihew:

An Array of Humor for the Soul

Sitting on a brick wall, it was so big and Humpty

Then, suddenly, he felt freestyle slipped and became Dumpty

It's too bad he broke his fragile shell when he fell

Many Far said that they thought was the sound of a bell

They were very funny and acted like a big Stooges

Sometimes three hung on hinges as

Bumping and running, they did not know who was first

Game is over and they leave with the purse

It was so funny, and his name was just George Carlin

Not hesitate to coloring his words with a tarp

Then came Big Brother cop who thought he was busted

Threw him in the box, and when it is released, they were disgusted

Watched his movies? Keep your muzzle, he is armed Hitchcock

Alfred It's strange but you will blow the rack

Pull the cover and we keep you slippers Real Close

Because this man is bold moves like Casper the Friendly Ghost
