Not since the former Mr. Universe (aka the current governor of California) first played his pecs as Hercules, there have been more powerful badass giving on the big screen. King Leonidas arrived, the head of his brave 300 in the glorious battle and even more glorious death.

But another thing is equally glorious cinema in the 300 incredibly natural tonic on the display.

Gerard Butler, the man behind the beard and all that muscle, cut quite imposing figure as the king of Sparta powerful. But achieving that look was not easy. In order to get it worked with two different coaches at the same time, six hours per day for four whole months before the shooting. The training consisted of several different exercises that focused on building muscular strength and endurance, and fat burning, all in the shortest time possible. According to Butler, training was so intense, "13 minutes of you vomiting on the floor." Obviously, all this hard work and dedication has paid off.

25 Pullups
50 deadlifts with 135 pounds
50 pumps
50 jumps on a box of 24 inches
50 Windshield floor (lying on the floor, holding a bar of 135 pounds. Keeping your legs straight all the time, a lift and raise them so that your toes touch a plate affixed to one end of the bar. Lower your legs back to starting position on the ground, then raising them to touch the plate the other end of the bar, lowering your legs again later. This is one of REP. For starters, try to do this using an empty bar, and in the absence of weight plates, simply bring your feet to within eight inches of the bar.)
50 single-arm clean-and-presses using a 36-pound kettle Bell
25 Pullups more

Take no rest between exercises. If you are a beginner, start with 10-25 reps for each exercise, and increase slowly until you can do all 300 of them. Substitute exercises like crunches, Swiss ball, dumbbell curls and jumping jacks for the variety.
