What will take the rust off Olympic-sized bar weight?

It has rust on the ends of stainless steel. I've heard lemon juice, lemon juice / cream of tartar or waiters friend. Steel wool is too hard? The mold is not heavy, but I want to clean.

It use steel wool or sandpaper to scrape the rust off. Then coat the oil zone. People oil metal and metal tools, since it prevents oxygen from reaching the metal and rust making.
