Famous for its crater lakes, color, national park Kelimutu also acquire its cool climate and panoramic view. It is still an enigma for science and how the locals Lakes won its color and may change from time to time. The color of the three lakes are red, blue and white which eventually turns brown-black, light green and black. The red-Yugoslavia and blue lakes where separated by a wall of 200 cm of soil and secondary schools located in side while the former white lake is located to the west.

Declared as a National Park February 26, 1992, this area 1,051,000 square meter not only consists of lakes, but also the mountains. He Kelibara Mount as the highest peak and the whole area is located in East Nusa Tenggara, the island Flores, Indonesia. Rich diversity of nature, the park has become a haven for various species of birds, plants and animals threatened with extinction. This park is not only rich in natural resources but also in their cultural heritage as clearly shown in the local traditional houses, weaving and dancing.

Local folklore says that the three lakes are gateways to different types of spirits. The first, with the name Tiwu Ata Mbupu is for the spirit of old. The second, named as Tiwu Nuwa Muri Koo Fai is intended for young minds. The third, for spirits evil and fortune tellers are called Tiwu Ata Polo. The best time to visit the lakes is between the months of July to September or in spring time.
