An Impartial Review of the Apple iPad 2

by Feng Callea

Apple has built quite a reputation for itself for innovation in phones and computers and the Apple iPad 2 is a great example of the combining of the two. The iPad 2 is the most recent release of a device that caused a major uproar when it was first released in 2010. Plenty of people purchased the original iPad but plenty more waited for the next one to come out in the hopes that any glitches found in the original would be solved in the next. The focus of this review will be on the benefits and drawbacks of the Apple iPad 2, whether you own the original or not.

One major change from the original iPad is that the iPad 2 allows you to video chat with FaceTime. This is a feature that is rapidly becoming quite popular because it lets you see the person you’re talking to in real time.

The iPad 2 has an HD camera both on the front and on the back so you can see the face of your friend with the front facing camera and use the back facing camera to take pictures of your location if you like. The photo booth app for iPad is great for taking snapshots of yourself or your friends. Of course, FaceTime is also available on iPhones and Mac computers, so you wouldn’t go out and buy an iPad for this feature alone. The operating system iOS 4 is used in the Apple iPad 2 as well as the iPod touch and iPhone. There are a large number of apps that are designed to work with this very popular and capable operating system for portable devices. The iPad can take advantage of the over 90,000 apps that Apple has, and most of these apps work with other Apple devices as well. You can edit your own videos with iMovie and read books with iBooks. You won’t need to use Kindle device for reading digital books as there is a Kindle app for the iPad.

As with all of the other products put out by Apple, there are a lot of different accessories you can purchase to go with the tablet. The Smart Cover is one of the most popular accessories for the tablet because it simultaneously protects and decorates it. The covers are lightweight, durable, fix to the iPad magnetically and are available in a wide array of colors.

There wasn’t a camera in the original iPad which was a major criticism of the device. The iPad 2 has remedied this by giving you two cameras, one on the front and one on the back. The cameras are not high quality which many make some users unhappy. These will work fine for your basic photos or chatting with friends on Facetime, but don’t have expectations for high quality photos or videos. Many won’t consider this a serious flaw since mobile phones have cameras and serious photographers will already have their own camera equipment.

Even though it isn’t perfect, there are lots of reasons to buy an Apple iPad 2. As long as you don’t miss the capability of flash or expect a whole lot from either of the cameras, you can still have a perfectly fun time browsing the internet, watching videos and using FaceTime to video chat with your friends. You shouldn’t rely on the Apple iPad 2 as your primary electronic device, but you can do lots of interesting and enjoyable things on it all the same.

Are you truly happy with your how to backup iPhone? It is so peculiar how most will not help their selves with this. No need to settle for backup iPhone unless you’re ok with it.
