Somewhere it is written that people spend a third of their life in bed. I really do not know to be true. I believe this figure comes from the theory that people need 8 hours sleep a day, and there are 24 hours in a day and 8 third of 24. People rarely do things by the numbers. This theory seems to rule out a lot of factors that could throw the numbers in question. But the only thing not in question is that we need sleep. The dream is more than the period between working and not working. Sleep relaxes, rejuvenates the body. Everyone is different, not everyone needs the same amount of sleep for the day.
