When the iPad made its debut, many said to themselves, “Whatever, I’ve got a laptop for that.” Very rapidly, though, the potentials of the iPad became recognized. They became more popular, sales and net profits soared upwards and suddenly all of the leading computer and cell phone companies wanted to get in on the action. Tablets began appearing all over the place. And Dell’s shareholders were going to be upset if they didn’t try and obtain a piece of the pie. The Dell Streak 7 Wi-Fi Tablet is the result of that concern. Whether this device makes the grade and is worth buying is what we will try to answer in this article.
It’s a good device for movies with a similar system to watch movies for ipad. It’s better to recommend a device when the company that manufactures it has a good reputation – that, however, is not the case with Dell. Dell isn’t really known for producing good and reliable products. This computer manufacturer’s customer service reputation is likewise on rather uneven ground. A lot of customers have shared that when they contacted Dell customer support after the warranty expiry date, they got a bill. Buying a product from this company can have future implications – and not just price – which may well outweigh the quick savings from it being a relatively cheap product.
Today, multitasking between different functions is much in demand, and the Android OS version used here, called Froyo, should make it fairly uncomplicated. You could listen to Mp3s, keep your GPS data current, and be given notice of different things through the system’s notification service without being constrained to keep any specific program open and running. It provides user-friendly access to your Gmail and other e-mail programs and accounts, so you don’t have to concerned about whether you can be reached when you have your tablet with you.
Video chat was not included with the first iPad offering, and it’s fantastic that it is with the Dell Streak 7 tablet. This Dell tablet, utilizing Qik software and a front-facing panel camera, offers video chat. The only catch is that the only ones you can chat with are people who have the same Streak tablet or a compatible device. Hence, video chatting with others using other platforms is not guaranteed. A bonus for the Dell Streak 7 tablet is the integrated offering of the On Demand service from Blockbuster. We’re not so certain that this is a strong feature, after all, because of the difficulties Blockbuster has been having as of late.
Reviews at this point are few and far between, but it does appear that people are unbelieving as to the reasons why this product was introduced. The tablet’s functionality is pretty limited through its inability to interact with devices that aren’t compatible with it. Still, if you are desperate for a tablet computer and you have a small budget, this tablet might be a great way to get used to the technology and figure out if tablets actually are for you. Before you commit your money to Dell, however, take care and make certain that you know what you’re putting your money on.
